“Nykus” ist die moderne und spannende Verfilmung einer sorbischen Sage.
Der Dreh Nykus vom Sommer 2025 ist beendet. Und trotz eines sehr regenreichen Sommers haben wir den Dreh erfolgreich abgedreht. Der Film ist jetzt im Rohschnitt, also in der Post Production. Der Score wurde bereits geschrieben von unserem Komponisten. Und wir freuen uns auf weitere Fortschritte. Es gab einen TV-Beitrag auf dem RBB/ARD, der unten verlinkt ist. Und auch andere Zeitschriften haben über den Dreh berichtet. Und wir freuen uns auf die nächsten Schritte.
Der Film “Nykus” entführt uns in die Lausitz, wo die sorbische Bevölkerung ihre Traditionen pflegt. Sechs Studenten, darunter die Einheimische Mia und ihr Bruder Jan spüren alten Bräuchen nach. In jugendlichem Übermut und trotz Warnungen der Anwohner geraten sie an einem See in Konflikt mit einem geheimnisvollen Mann. Verfolgt durch die dunklen Wälder und magischen Landschaften der Lausitz, müssen sich die verzweifelten Studenten schwierigen Wahrheiten stellen.
Drehorte waren in Berlin, Schönwalde, Lehde und in Lübbenau.

A Mystical Folk Horror Coming of Age Film
In “Nykus”, ancient Sorbian legends and mythic creatures are brought back to life. Six reckless students travel to the Spreewald region, where they clash with local customs and suppressed traditions. Soon, they must confront not only their own inner demons but also the legendary Waterman, an ancient figure who stalks them through the dark forests and mist covered lakes of Lusatia.
“Nykus” is the first horror feature to be based entirely on Sorbian mythology, partly performed in the Sorbian language and shot on authentic original locations. Regional and national media, including public broadcasters, have covered the project in print, image and video.
The main character Nykus is played by Felix Lampert, known from “Those about to Die”.
Principal photography was successfully completed in summer 2025 despite exceptionally heavy rainfall. The original score was composed prior to shooting and is currently being carefully adapted to the fine cut as part of the sound design process. The film is in fine cut, scheduled for completion in spring 2026. Visual effects production is planned for early summer 2026.
Completion of the German version and the English localization is scheduled for spring 2026, followed by a targeted festival run throughout 2026. Initial conversations with distributors and sales agents took place in advance and at the European Film Market during the Berlinale 2026.
Filming locations include Berlin and the Spreewald region, particularly Schönwalde, Lehe and Lübbenau.
